One of the first things we did when we got home from vaca last week was go check out the garden. To our dismay, all 3 of our zucchini plants and 2 of our 3 summer squash plants were destroyed. Looked like the stems had been chewed. We suspected rabbits, but we've only ever seen one in our yard.
Today we were eating lunch outside and our neighbor came over to let us know she saw deer in our yard this morning! We live in a Wonder Years-type subdivision, so we didn't think there was any way deer would find their way in, with the fences and close yards and all....well, we were wrong!
Yesterday we had about 15-20 green tomatoes...I was dreaming of making a homegrown sauce next week. Well, now we have 3 tomatoes! Unbelievable! I guess we now also know our zucchini culprit.
Sooo, help needed please! We've heard the tales of human hair or Ivory soap, but what really works to keep deer away? Are there any plants we could plant all the way around our garden? We realllly want to have a vegetable garden that can produce enough produce to keep us full all summer long, but we won't use any chemical sprays on the plants.
Thanks for the help!!

A resident lion would probably take care of your problem....
;-)
(it's me, Leesha! In case you don't recognize my OTHER nick-name....)
Hello out there, Sorry to hear about your deer problem.. I have heard that if you plant Marigolds around the veggies they do not come near them.. They do not like the smell, also Petunias are also a smelly flower they don't like.. Good Luck..
Unbelievable! By the way, it wasn't Bambi. Bambi's too nice to have done that. It must have been someone from the bad side of the family.
I know, move back home. Sounds like the perfect solution!
